For this project I wanted to have a focus on unreleased shoes that get talked about as soon as the concepts drop from them. In the sneaker community there is always a talk about the new shoes that are coming out and how the design will look like. To find the shoes that I actually wanted to use for this project I first took a deep dive through my messages on instagram and twitter because I am consistently talk and sharing information about shoes to my roommate and pick from there. Once I realized that I didn't have enough pictures and information about each shoe I went trough many different online shoe and streetwear websites that post about new shoes and was able to find the correct pictures and information that I was looking for.
Compared to other poster designs that I have seen I focus closely on the details that aren't really seen till you have the shoe in person. I show off the shoes in a creative and playful way that helps get people excited about the new shoes and show them off in a different lighting. I also include a description for most of the shoes that had the information available and also talked about its past variants and the history that name holds on its own.
In some particular designs I also did some graffiti work for the titles by hand digitally and I know that its never before been seen with the combination of shoes and I really want to emphasize the combination of the two and how well they can work with one another. One example where we have seen brands try different and new things could be Off White and how they make there designs pop and different from other companies.
Throughout this project, there were quite a few challenges that came up when it came to designing the posters. Since this whole project was based on the idea of making shoe posters for the newly announced shoes I had trouble finding the right images that I wanted for the specific shoe or there not being enough pictures released to the public about a specific shoe. A lot of the shoes that I use to make into posters have been talked about for months now and not a lot of people know about them besides some people inside the sneaker community. This idea made me push my posters to have text and imagery on each poster showing off the shoe and giving as much information as possible about the shoe so far so that the viewers understand what they're looking at and can get some content behind the shoe.
I broke down what I was looking for in this project and the points where I wanted to focus on the most, have the posters come out the best as possible and with the right look that I was thinking about for these posters. Having a mix of all of these things helped me get clean and nicely designed posters.
When it came to actually making my posters I went one by one and started playing with positioning of everything and seeing how it looked once it was all together. I knew that I wanted to include some sort of graffiti style that touches back to my particular style so I started to include that in my poster by including it as the shoe name title. For each poster I ended up making two or three different variations playing around with how the shoes are layed out on the page and how the title of the shoe plays with the hierarchy of the page and not having one being bigger then the other or fighting for the space on the page.
When thinking about this project I knew that I had to get pictures together that are more in with my style of street art and my passion for shoes together. I looked through many different shoe websites and also through Pinterest to get ideas about what I wanted the shoe posters to look like. I collected different styled posters to see what each poster was doing and try to take parts that I like and transform it into my own posters.
Currently, there are only six posters in this collection, but I hope to continue making more of these shoe posters for more upcoming shoes that have been discussed in the sneaker community. I had a lot of fun so far on this project, combining my interest in sneakers and bringing it into my art workspace and trying to crazy craft something together.
